Charles Balderston - Founder and Lead Product Sound Designer
Charles is a seasoned product sound designer with over 20 years of experience in sound design, soundscape analysis, and interactive audio. With roots in music production and songwriting, he developed a human-centered approach that balances functionality with emotional resonance. Drawing from his expertise in research and UX design, Charles has collaborated with leading brands such as Lyft, Microsoft, Scotiabank, and Chefman to create innovative audio solutions that leave a lasting impact.
Jiahui Li - Technical Sound Designer, Audio Creative
Jiahui Li is a Vancouver-based technical sound designer. She specializes in game audio, sonic branding, and cutting-edge audio technologies. Her work includes shipped Unity games, award-winning film scores, and high-profile recording projects like Nocturnes with cellist Sophia Bacelar. As a technical sound designer, Jiahui integrates spatial audio, Wwise, and coding to create immersive experiences. She has collaborated with global brands such as BYD Auto, HUAWEI, and FORD, designing premium sound systems and effects that elevate both products and storytelling through seamless, high-quality audio.
Brian Ostreicher - Audio Branding, Sound Designer
Brian is an award-winning Audio Creative Leader with over 20 years of experience in music, post production, sound design, audio advertising, branding and strategy. He's designed audio for some of the largest brands in the world, including Meta, Samsung, Microsoft, Amazon, Disney, McDonalds, Toyota, Coca-Cola, GE, Ubisoft and Activision. Brian is passionate about the strategic use of audio to amplify the human experience.
Matt Searle - Audio Director, Audio Post Producer
Matt is an experienced creative leader with a 19-year career specializing in audio production and team management. His journey began in the music industry, where he served as a studio manager and oversaw intern development. He then spent seven years running a multimillion-dollar, three-room audio production facility at a university, mentoring and guiding students in their craft. For the past eight years at Apple, Matt has led audio production for his team, with the last four years as lead video producer, managing all audio vendor relationships. His diverse background and expertise in audio makes him a versatile leader who thrives in creative environments.
Lucas Lacerda - Product Sound Design, Audio UX Design
Lucas Lacerda is an accomplished designer with a strong foundation in Industrial Design and Product Sound Design. With over 20 years of experience in the UX industry and a Master’s degree specializing in music and innovation, Lucas brings a unique perspective to design research and analysis, focusing on soundscape experiences and the holistic reasoning behind audio design. When he's not crafting exceptional user experiences, you'll likely find Lucas in the studio recording music or in the workshop building guitars by hand.
Ryan Birnberg - Audio Story-teller, Audio Post Mixer
Ryan Birnberg is an award-nominated sound designer and member of the Director’s Guild of Canada, with over a decade of experience in film, television, and music. His expertise spans on-set audio recording, music composition, and post-production sound design, providing him with a unique perspective on sound's role in storytelling. Ryan brings passion, precision, and a collaborative mindset to every project, consistently pushing creative boundaries to craft immersive soundscapes that enhance narratives across mediums and genres.
